In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Below I have scanned three pages for this question, comparing the conventions that I have used, developed or challenged from the real product. The conventions I have used are written in red, and the conventions the real product has used are in blue.
The two printscreens below are from my website, and the Haverhill Echo's website, I am going to compare the conventions used in both. Written in red is the convention that I use and the blue is the convention the Haverhill Echo uses.
How Effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
I have handed out 10 questionnaires to ask others that they think about my products. Beneath I have scanned in 2 of the questionnaires that I handed out and I filled in a questionnaire to compare my thoughts with others, which I have also scanned in. The first is filled in by a female of 43 and the second is male aged 23

How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evalutation stages?
RESEARCH AND PLANNING
-Internet:
Suffolkfreepress.co.uk
Halsteadgazette.co.uk
Haverhillecho.co.uk
thesun.co.uk
guardian.co.uk
telegraph.co.uk
cambridge-news.co.uk
eadt.com
I used these newspaper websites to look into what the typical conventions of newspaper websites are. These all had an impact on the final version of my products.
Blogger.com
I used this website to explain and describe all of my choices and write up the information I had found through out my research and planning stages.
Computer Software:
Microsoft Word
I used micrsoft word to create the questionnaires, I chose this because it was familiar to me and I am confident in using the programme.
I also used this to create a table to collect the questionnaire results in, again because I was confident in using the programme.
Venn Diagram
I used a venn diagram to organise the areas of where I could base my newspaper, this helped me decide whether to do a county based newspaper, or a small town newspaper.
Mind Maps
I used mind maps to come up with ideas for the name of my paper, this allowed me to organise my thoughts so that it would be simple to look through
CONSTRUCTION
Computer programmes:
Publisher
I used publisher for the creation of my newspaper. I chose publisher because it has all the tools I need to create a proffessional looking paper.
Adobe Photoshop CS3
I used Photoshop to edit the photographs that I had taken, I chose to use photoshop over GIMP because it was a more proffessional programme, especially for editing photographs.
GIMP
I chose to use GIMP for the creation of my poster because it was easier to use that Photoshop when creating images from scratch and importing edited photographs.
Internet:
moonfruit.com
this is the website that I used for the construction of my website. I chose this for it's proffessional touch and similarity to the appearence of newspaper websites
Other:
Digital Camera
I used my digital camera to take photographs for my newspaper articles and adverts for both the website and the newspaper.
